Since the foundation was established in 2002, the validity of the EPD’s has lasted 3 years. Based on our own experience and practice in other countries, the board of the Norwegian EPD Foundation has decided to extend the period of EPD-validity from 3 to 5 years. Furthermore this is in line with international standards. (The verification committee may consider whether it – exceptionally – will be necessary to make more frequently renewals.)

New prices
The current prices have been unchanged since 2007. The board of The Norwegian EPD Foundation has therefore decided to increase the prices, also adjusted to the extended validity period of the EPD’s.

 Prices 2007-2009 have been:
- Annual administration fee for each company NOK 7.000
- Registration fee for each EPD (for 3 years)  NOK 5.000

New prices from 2010
- Annual administration fee for each company NOK 8.000
- Registration fee for each EPD (for 5 years)  NOK 10.000

Quantity discount
The board has also decided to introduce a new regime of quantity discount for producers/companies with many EPD’s. Firstly this is done to avoid too high expenses for one single producer. In addition we would like to stimulate use of further more EPD’s.

New rules of quantity discount from 2010:
"Producers pay NOK 10.000 registration fee for each EPD. If the same producer develop more than 10 EPD’s, the price is NOK 1.000 for each EPD as from no. 11 and onwards. The registration fee is valid for 5 years. As mentioned above, the annual administration fee is NOK 8.000 for each company."

Intermediate regime
EPD’s developed in 2007 to be renewed in 2010, will be part of the new regime. EPD’s developed in 2008 and 2009 will keep the validity of 3 years. When these EPD-validities expire, the next verification will be made for 5 years.
